John O. Brentin is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate
Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is A.V. rated
by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available from the
oldest and most respected legal directory. He has also held
an additional board certification in Business Bankruptcy Law.
He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of Estate Planning and
Probate, Business Planning, and Asset Protection and is the
author of Basic Estate Planning in Texas.
He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Houston
Bates School of Law in 1978 where he served as the founding
Editor-in-Chief of the Houston Journal of International Law.
He received his B.A., cum laude, from The Ohio State University
in 1974.
Professional affiliations include the State Bar of Texas (sections
on Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law, Tax Law and Business
Law), Houston Bar Association, American Bar Association, Houston
Estate & Financial Forum, Texas Academy of Probate and Trust

John is a Past-President and active member
of The Rotary Club of Houston, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow,
Troop 55 Assistant Scoutmaster and Pack 505 Past Cubmaster with
The Boy Scouts of America. His interests include cycling and
running marathons. He serves as a coach for the Houston Fit
marathon-training group. He and his wife, Vicki, have been married
for almost 25 years. They have 3 sons.
